Why EcoFem Alliance?
EcoFem Alliance is a women and youth oriented CBO founded in Budaka district Eastern Region of Uganda. It is principally dedicated to promoting sustainable environmental use, human and land rights of women in Budaka district. It is further aimed at helping us raise ideas on how to support and manage the environmental for social and economic transformation of women in Budaka District.
We're driven and backed by the following objectives;
Promotion of Green Energy
To promote initiatives that advance the adoption of renewable energy, enhance energy efficiency, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Support for Gender Equality
To support policies and programs that advance gender equality and address gender-based violence.
Promotion of Agriculture
To promote sustainable agricultural practices, provide support to small-scale farmers, and advocate for policies that ensure access to nutritious food.
Ecosystems and Biodiversity
To advocate for policies and actions that preserve and protect ecosystems, promote biodiversity conservation, and address threats to biodiversity.
Provision of Clean Water
To improve access to clean water sources, sanitation facilities, and promote water conservation.
Our Areas of Work
Climate Change & Environmental Degradation
EcoFem Alliance works towards SDG 13 by promoting policies and initiatives that address climate change, such as promoting the use of renewable energy, increasing energy efficiency, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. EcoFem Alliance works to raise awareness about the impacts of climate change and environmental degradation on women, who are often disproportionately affected by these issues. This is being done through advocating for policies and initiatives that address climate change and promote sustainable development.
Women's Rights & Empowerment
EcoFem Alliance works towards SDG 5 by advocating for policies and initiatives that promote gender equality, such as increasing access to education and healthcare, addressing gender-based violence, and promoting women's economic empowerment. EcoFem Alliance works to promote women's rights and empowerment, recognizing that gender inequality is a root cause of environmental degradation. This is through advocating for policies and initiatives that promote gender equality, support women's education and health, and address violence against women.
Sustainable Agriculture & Food Security
EcoFem Alliance works towards SDG 2 by promoting sustainable agriculture practices, supporting smallscale farmers, and advocating for policies and initiatives that increase access to nutritious food. EcoFem Alliance works to promote sustainable agriculture and food security, recognizing the connections between environmental sustainability, food security, and women's livelihoods. This is through supporting small-scale farmers, promote sustainable agriculture practices, and address food insecurity.
Water and Sanitation
EcoFem Alliance works towards SDG 6 by advocating for policies and initiatives that promote access to clean water and sanitation facilities, such as promoting water conservation, increasing access to clean water sources, and improving sanitation infrastructure. EcoFem Alliance, recognizes that women are often responsible for water collection and are disproportionately affected by lack of access to clean water and sanitation facilities. Hence through advocating for policies and initiatives that promote water and sanitation infrastructure, and support women's participation in water management.
Biodiversity Conservation
EcoFem Alliance can work towards SDG 15 by advocating for policies and initiatives that protect ecosystems and promote biodiversity conservation, such as supporting protected areas, promoting sustainable land use, and addressing threats to biodiversity. EcoFem Alliance can also work to promote biodiversity conservation, recognizing the importance of protecting ecosystems and the diversity of life on Earth. This can include advocating for policies and initiatives that support protected areas, promote sustainable land use, and address threats to biodiversity
